Common Questions

  • Q. How do I make a [user name]@dynampix.com account? I signed up but don't see where I can configure this.
  • A. If you signed up, whatever user name you chose for logging in to the administration panel, is also the same user name for your dynampix.com email address. Example, if you signed up and used "mrpics" as the user name, mrpics@dynampix.com is already setup and ready to receive content. Just send images to that address with a subject line for the image title, and an email message for the image description, and your picture will appear in your online image portfolio within minutes. Also, the same goes for your public homepage, it will reside at mrpics.dynampix.com.
  • Q. I don't have my own website but I want to share my albums, where can I send viewers to see my albums?
  • A. Every dynampics.com user has a publicly available homepage at http://[user name].dynampix.com. Note the pix as opposed to pics. This homepage is customizable through the administration panel by logging in at dynampics.com.
  • Q. I don't have a camera phone, can I still use this site and it's services?
  • A. Of course, there is a concise administration panel that allows you to upload images into your portfolio, organize them into albums and publish the albums on your website.
  • Q. What is this dynampix.com, dynampics.com, why is it so confusing?
  • A. It isn't, it just seems that way at first. Basically, your image email receiver and your public homepage are always at dynampix.com, while the administration panel and our website is at dynampics.com. So if your user name is mrpics, your image receiver address is mrpics@dynampix.com and your homepage is http://mrpics.dynampix.com/. The administration panel, however, is at http://www.dynampics.com/.
  • Q. What is the difference between my "image portfolio" and my "photo albums"?
  • A. Your image portfolio is basically all the images that have been uploaded via mobile devices or the administration panel, your photo albums are groups of your available portfolio images, just like you have a photo album in your bookcase. An album is an organization of the images.
  • Q. Can I password protect my photo album if I use the javascript to publish it on my website?
  • A. Yes, it is your choice if you would like to password protect each album. You may do so while editing your album through the administration panel. Users who visit password protected albums on your website, will only be prompted once per visit to view them, they can reload the page all they want without being prompted again.
  • Q. I want to publish my album in a non-dynamic way, like a blog, is this possible?
  • A. Yes, an album can be viewed one of 2 ways, as a dynamic picture album that relies on javascript, or listed vertically as a blog which requires no javascript to run.
  • Q. I want to build my own application to serve up my online picture album, can I get an album XML structure or something of that nature?
  • A. Yes, you can retrieve a link to your album in XML format via the administration panel. The XML is generic node structures and easily processed to run in various applications. Click Here for Album XML Information!
  • Q. I created a photo album and put the javascript code on my site, I want to be able to send images from my cell or wireless device, right into my online photo album, can I do that?
  • A. Yes you can. In the data sources portion of the administration panel, edit the data source you want to give this ability to and choose which albums it is allowed to publish to. It will take effect immediately.
  • Q. I want to send images from my cell phone or other wireless device but I don't know what the email address is, how can I add it as a data source without knowing the email address from which it sends?
  • A. You can either send yourself an email, then cut and paste the source email address (would be from your cell or other device) into the administration panel as a data source or alternatively, send an email to your dynampix.com account which will create the data source as inactive, you can then activate it through the administration panel.
  • Q. I sent an image from my cell, which has a valid data source setup, but the image has not appeared in my portfolio (and album if the source publishes directly to albums) yet, what happened?
  • A. There are 2 possible causes, one is that your cell providers mail servers are slow for the moment, give it a couple more minutes and if the image still does not appear, confirm you sent the email to [user name]@dynampix.com, NOT dynmpics.com (note the 'pix.com' as opposed to the 'pics.com'). If it still doesn't show, please Contact Us.
  • Q. My wireless provider appends all this garbage to the end of my messages, this stuff appears in my image portfolio descriptions, what can I do?
  • A. Some providers are quite intrusive, they put all sorts of garbage, sometimes more garbage than you yourself, actually entered in your email. Verizon is a major culprit. To thwart this, enable the auto truncate feature on your verizon or other invasive data sources. Once you do this, you can force the message body to stop when our system sees a line break, and a double hyphen.
  • Q. Is there a limitation as to how many data sources or how many albums each data source can publish directly to?
  • A. You may have up to 5 unique data sources, wireless or otherwise, that can publish into your portfolio and any number of photo albums.
  • Q. Is there a limitation to how many images I can have in my account at one time, or how many images an album can have?
  • A. You can have up to 500 images in your image portfolio which can be organized into an unlimited number of photo albums.
